Today, I am having one of those days. One of those days when you have creative juices flowing and your thoughts are not jumbled in a mess of confused crisscrosses. Sounds like a good thing right? Well, there is a double-edged sword here.
On the one hand, I have a grand conglomerate of ideas for new stories and exciting adventures. On the other hand, I have Ursidae. The final book in my Infinity Verge series is just not coming together. I am struggling writing it.
I don’t think it is because the story is bad because honestly, I think it is really exciting and I think that readers will love it. The problem I am struggling with is that I am not enthusiastic about writing Science Fiction. My first published book was Science Fiction, my second published book was Science Fiction and my third published book (Ursidae) will be Science Fiction.
The problem is, I am in love with Fantasy. I am in love with Urban Fantasy. I want to write about magic and demons and faeries. I want to write about epic swordsmen and cunning rogues. I want to write about immortal assassins. I want to write about characters like Abraham Van Helsing and Dracula. I want to write about Frodo Baggins and Ringwraiths. I want to write about Rand Al’Thor and the Forsaken.
June is going to be interesting for me. I am committed to finishing Ursidae, even though my enthusiasm is not so grand. Sorry for the gripes folks. I’m sure I’ll be more positive soon, until next time.
