1 … 2 … 3 … Okay so this is not precisely what I meant by the title. I have told everyone, through this blog, already that I am ADHD. As such this leaves me sort of flitting through life and doing things on my own time; not exactly a conducive lifestyle for writing, blogging, or even reading. Thus I was thinking how I could adjust things to make it a little easier on myself. I am sure the next few weeks will be the toughest, essentially forming some good habits. I think now is the time though, before another holiday or out of town trip interferes with my habit forming.
So what am I going to do? Well for starters, I’ll be saving my blog posts for Mondays, at least this way there is some consistency in the ‘when’ I write a blog post, but also it ensures I have some accountability through you dear readers. That being said, feel free to bug me if I haven’t put out a post by Tuesday morning. Second, I am creating a little downtime in the evenings, start at around 7:30pm Arizona Time I am going to start my own personal writing burst for 30 minutes. It may be something I am doing just to write something or maybe I’ll work on a novel or universe/world building. I plan to do this every night, write for at least thirty minutes, TV and Video games off. Finally, to encourage my longer writing sessions, I am creating a time on Wednesday, when I get home from work to write for a two hour block. I am calling this my Binge Writing Session.
So there you have it, a schedule for myself (feel free to join in and comment about what you are doing). The best part of this schedule is it allows me freedom to write any other time as well, but ensures I am writing a little each day and avoiding those times that break up my writing habit and leave me hanging in literary limbo. I think I am going to have to get a notepad to carry around with me, so I can write when I do not have my computer available to me. Thanks for reading; until next time folks.
